Nancy Nowhere was referred to a community counseling center by her physician. The physician reported she was living alone and had a night job as a computer operator. She has been stable for a number of years, yet the physician feels she may be able to use some help to achieve a more enjoyable life.
She describes herself as empty and without a self. She appeared to have a bland affect, and was defensive when talking to others. She felt she needed to defend herself for reasons she could not specify. She has had no romantic relationships and does not keep in touch with her family members who live in another state.
