Dee Hesabum, a 31 year-old White woman, recently sought counseling at a community mental health center. During the initial session, Dee reported that she and her husband of 5 years had gotten a divorce 5 months before her meeting with Dr. Wright. For approximately the past 6 months, Dee had been experiencing hopelessness and a lack of motivation and energy, and she had lost 20 pounds. Dee reported that her husband had not been paying child support, which she had planned to use to pay for the care of her two children. The client spent the majority of the session telling the counselor what a terrible person her ex-husband was and indicated that she believed that things would be fine if he would start being a better father to their children.
